Hiring my son

Hi I am hiring my son to work for my business I was wondering if he has the same 'rights' as other employees or if its more lenient? Thanks

It would be more lenient. As far as even posting a Labor Law Poster, you wouldn't even be obligated to post one. Your can have your son work hours without overtime or even a minimum wage. Just be careful if your son is under 18, where he cannot work in hazardous occupations such as mining. There are also various rules regarding hiring under 16 and times of the day where he should be in school, or receiving an education.
  • You still may have to post a labor law poster, depending on if you will have him sign a W-2. Your son has rights, just as a family business, there are different laws, usually more lax.
