Overtime only on weekends

Hi, I work overtime frequently on weekdays, and am only paid my regular wage. However when I work during the weekends, I am paid my overtime wage. Is this right? I thought that overtime wasn't based on when I'm working, just on how many hours I put in. Thanks

  • You're absolutely correct - overtime is calculated based on hours worked, not the days on which hours were put in. Any hours worked above the standard 40 per week is considered overtime for the typical employee.

It's entirely possible that you work in a position that is exempt from overtime wages, which means your employer is just giving you a bonus for working on a weekday (good of him!).
  • I will ask him about it tomorrow. Thank you for the answer Kevin
