Do I have any recourse if I didn't get a job because of my religious beliefs?

I recently applied for a job at a bar. The interview seemed to take a turn after the manager asked me if I can work the weekends, which I can't. I never heard back after that. Are there any grounds for a discrimination lawsuit?

  • Well first you would have to find out if that is the reason you didn't get the job. Also, if this was a small establishment, they can not give you the job if it would cause what's called "undue hardships" to your potential employer. When it comes to discrimination because of religion, there are a whole lot of grey areas that need to be addressed. It's all under the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and it is pretty outdated even with the amendments that were added.
